How to Use the Blog Module

Browse to a page containing a Blog module, or add a Blog module to an existing page.

To Add a New Blog Post:

  1. Click the "Add New Post" link.
  2. Type your information in the text editor as you would for any other page on the website.
  3. Type a title for your post in the "Title" textbox below the text editor.
  4. If there are category checkboxes listed, you can check any you feel are appropriate for this post. A post can have multiple categories checked.
  5. If you would like to add a category, type your category into the "Categories" textbox, and press the "Add Category" button.  (This will both create the category, and put this blog post into the new category.)
  6. Make sure the "Include in Feed" box is checked.  This allows anyone who is subscribed to your RSS feed to get their updates automatically.
  7. Choose how long you would like for people to be able to comment on this blog post from the "Allow Comments For" dropdown box.  If you don't want to allow comments, choose "Not Allowed" from this dropdown box.
  8. Press the "Update" button to save your post.

To Edit an Existing Blog Post:

  1. Click the pencil icon next to the blog post you would like to edit.
  2. In edit mode, you can do the same things as you can do when you are adding a new blog post.
  3. Press the "Update" button to save your changes and return to the main page, or press the "Cancel" button to return to the main page without making any changes.

Please Note: If you find you need to make significant changes to a post (as opposed to fixing typos and misspellings), you may wish to also add a note to your post saying when you made your changes, and what those changes were.

To Delete an Existing Blog Post:

  1. Click the pencil icon next to the blog post you would like to edit.
  2. Press the "Delete this item" button.  You will be prompted to confirm deletion of the post.  Click "OK" to delete the post, or "Cancel" to leave the post in place.
